- I had no trouble in getting THOR to work, but its documentation did
- not cover what I needed to do. Some helpful souls here made it possible
- for me to use it.
-
- First, THOR needs lots of memory and hard drive space, but the docs
- don't mention how much. My 3 megs isn't enough to let it run perfectly
- (1 chip, 2 fast). Among the critical things not mentioned is that you
- must deselect the GetConflist event if you don't have enough RAM to grab
- it. Once that is done, you can manually enter newsgroups to browse or
- subscribe to.
-
- But other than the problems with memory, which can be worked around,
- THOR itself works very well. If THOR gives you an "out of memory"
- message, that means it is time to quit, close all connections, and
- reboot. Continuing to use it after this warning risks more serious
- malfunctions. But since it will warn you with this message, you can
- work around it. And there is always the option to add more RAM.
